Pole Appeal Chicago Fitness Studio is located at 2544 N. Clark Street in the heart of vibrant Lincoln Park in Chicago.

We are a supportive and fun community where everyone is safe to be themselves and grow in strength, confidence, and skill level. Our class sizes are intimate and our skilled instructors will keep you challenged and safe.

Review our class offerings and get ready for your pole challenge. Individual training is available for $60 per one-hour session or three for $150. MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
PATTY YACONIS
LEAD INSTRUCTOR / OWNER
Patty has been enjoying the challenge and art of pole dancing for over ten years. Once experiencing the thrill and challenge it provided, she quickly decided to become a certified instructor and now has fulfilled the dream of opening her own studio.
Patty has competed nationally and has achieved several awards.
ALEX KUNZELMAN
INSTRUCTOR
Alex began pole dancing in 2014 through a student organization at the University of Illinois and soon after helped open Defy Gravity, a pole and aerial arts studio where he developed advanced courses and conditioning classes. There, he discovered the transformative power of pole for individuals and the community it builds. After moving in 2017, he briefly stepped away from pole until rekindling his passion at Pole Appeal in 2021. Alex is continually inspired by the transformations he sees in his students, not only in skill but in their growth through vulnerability, expression, and support.
ZACHARY NOEL
INSTRUCTOR
Zack has been a dancer for over 15 years. He loves embracing and exploring all different types of dance styles, and pole is one of them. Starting pole about 3 years ago, Zack has gone through many trainings and loves being able to teach fun, challenging, but attainable combos in his pole classes. He loves to celebrate each and every one of his pole and dance students’ victories. If you would like to book a private with Zack, you can work on Pole, Choreography, or overall performance. While a trained dancer, Zack has a lot of experience working with dancers at all levels.
BIRDIE WELCH
INSTRUCTOR
Birdie began pole in 2019, but has been in the fitness field since 2014. She began by teaching Pilates, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and Masters in Exercise Science. Having the background of fitness and body anatomy helps Birdie to work students through the many different movements and tricks that accompany pole dancing.
Birdie’s motto in class is that every body is valued, no two bodies move the same, and progress makes progress.
OLIVIA (Liv) NATHAN
INSTRUCTOR
Liv (she/they) has been pole dancing since May 2021 and is eternally grateful to the Pole Appeal community for transforming their life. They have a passion for dance and the dedication that comes along with this practice, which is why they love teaching pole conditioning and yoga! They have been practicing yoga for a decade and teaching yoga since 2017. Their favorite thing about teaching at Pole Appeal (aside from the amazing community of teachers and students) is watching their students exude confidence and empowerment as they build strength and flexibility. Outside of teaching and dancing, Liv is a professional actor here in Chicago. If they aren’t working on their creative projects, you can probably catch them at home with their cat, Stevie!
ELLEN MOON
INSTRUCTOR
Ellen began her formal dance training in 1994 and transitioned to pole and aerial dance in 2006, following a decade of experience in competitive and performative gymnastics as both a lead dancer and coach. She has trained extensively across the United States and internationally, incorporating unique styles and techniques into her diverse repertoire. With a strong commitment to safety and longevity, Ellen believes that dance should be a lifelong source of enjoyment and fulfillment for everyone.
ASHLEY EDEWAARD
INSTRUCTOR
Ashley started her pole journey in Berlin in 2017. After moving to Scotland, she continued to take pole classes and branched out into lyra and aerial silks. While in Scotland, Ashley earned certifications to teach flexibility, heels pole, and matwork Pilates, which she taught at her local studios. When she returned to the States in 2023, Ashley got her certification to teach Reformer Pilates. Ashley believes that pole and Pilates complement each other beautifully and loves to combine her passion for these disciplines in her teaching.
MAY RIVERA
INSTRUCTOR
May, known as Coquito in the pole community, began her dance journey with ballet and explored various styles over the years, each enriching her artistic path. Her passion for pole dancing ignited in 2022 at Pole Appeal, where she embraced its unique blend of strength, grace, and creativity.
Currently pursuing a career in Physical Therapy, Coquito combines her love for movement with a dedication to helping others. She guides her students to discover their unique styles, sharing techniques and body mechanics to support their growth, and is committed to inspiring the next generation of pole dancers.
HANNAH GRACE
INSTRUCTOR
Hannah Grace (she/her) has been helping people build strength and confidence as a personal trainer since 2018 and has been practicing pole since 2019. She started pole as a way to build her own confidence and quickly fell in love with the community that being part of a studio brings. She knows the physical and mental benefits to pole dancing, and is motivated to help other folx find their own spark. From spin pole passes to low flow routines, Hannah is devoted to training for strength, safety, and living an authentic and bada$$ life.
ALEXIS GONZALEZ
INSTRUCTOR
Lexi started her career in the great basin of pole dancing….Las Vegas! She has experience teaching different styles of pole dance and pole fitness in three different countries. She is a certified (PoleMoves) instructor and currently actively dancing in the nightclub industry. She has choreographed pole routines for dancers of different levels for both pole competitions and national presentations. Meet her at Pole Ascending Flow, Polesque, or Splitsville!
LAUREN CARLTON
INSTRUCTOR
Lauren’s passion for the performing arts and fitness came together in 2018 when she began pole dancing. Pole continues to strengthen her mind and body while simultaneously empowering and challenging her like nothing else. Lauren obtained her Level 1 Instructor certification through Pole Fitness Alliance (PFA) and has competed with Pole Sport Organization (PSO).
TAYLOR PRICE
INSTRUCTOR
Taylor Price (ladylola) is a growing dancer in the chicago KPop scene and is known for her patience with students and attention to detail.
A member of the dance crew iM.Pulse, Lola has been winning competitiions since 2016 and began teaching in 2017 with an emphasis on classes that are high enery and excitement. Her dance styles range from hip hop to contemporary, zumba, and lyrical.
